The ANSIC scheme is funded by the Department of Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and delivered by NNL and was developed to enable the UK to develop Advanced Nuclear Technologies (ANTs).

C-Tech Innovation were awarded the funding in late 2021, we are using the funding to advance our radioactive waste solution technologies ‘ELENDES and EASD’ and develop them for full deployment.

The Advanced Nuclear Skills and Innovation Campus (ANSIC) Showcase took place on March 30th, the event celebrated projects and collaborations enabled by ANSIC, including a showcase of our nuclear decommissioning technologies and our novel electrochemical approaches that deliver a step change in the treatment of metals and organic matter that are contaminated with radioactive elements. Our capabilities and 10 year industry experience has led to us being able to recognise and address the decommissioning challenges of the nuclear industry.

Quote from Dr Rob Bell who represented C-Tech Innovation at the showcase.

“The ANSIC showcase was an excellent opportunity to feedback to a wider nuclear interest group on the work we have done in brining electrochemistry to the nuclear decommissioning sector.

It was interesting to discuss the complexities of challenging waste streams and decommissioning with problem owners, and has created a number of opportunities to expand our application areas.

The ANSIC showcase brought together some of technical innovations that are currently happening in the nuclear industry and enabled  interaction with government departments and specialists in the industry.

In particular the presentations from the BEIS representatives on the scope of the nuclear strategy as parts of UK government net zero approach was insightful and gives context to the nuclear new build program.”
