Knowledge & Management Services

Our Knowledge & Management Services (K&MS) group offers our clients an end-to-end innovation management service, able to assist at every step of the innovation journey.  We work with SMEs, Blue Chips, Central, Regional and Local Government.

Our offering is centred around a four stage process:

Inspire: Leadership & Strategy

We equip senior managers with the skills necessary to lead and inspire their organisations, and ensure their success in the short, medium and long term. We can provide advice, ongoing mentoring and targeted workshops in areas such as strategic analysis, choice and implementation, leadership and team development, governance, and performance management.

Innovate: Innovation & Organisational Development

Services under this heading aim to develop organisations so that they have a sustainable capability to overcome the barriers to product, service, and process innovation. Our consultants have a diverse range of skills, which include ideation and creativity management, new product development, business case development, technical and managerial due diligence, stage and gate processes, project and programme management, business excellence, process improvement, and quality and environmental management systems for example.

Grow: Business & Organisational Growth

Working in partnership with our clients we support their growth by developing business and action plans to support their first steps towards their future goals. We undertake research, analysis and planning so that clients can understand their markets, and develop web - based marketing and management tools to effectively sell to their markets. We also help clients develop strategies for organisational design, succession planning, spin outs and joint ventures, and support for funding for example.

Connect: Networking, Open Innovation and Knowledge Transfer

Open Innovation:

New communication technologies and ways of working are altering the established ways in which knowledge and innovation flow. Traditionally, companies looking to gain competitive advantage have kept their ideas and discoveries secret and made little attempt to assimilate information from outside their own organisation. The central idea behind open innovation is that companies can no longer afford to rely on their own in-house research, but need to be also looking outside to add further value to their market offering. This may be in the form of collaborations, licensing agreements, or patent acquisitions. Similarly, internal interventions not being exploited by an organisation can be taken outside the company and brought to market to generate revenue through licensing, joint ventures or spin-offs. Open innovation offers many advantages:

  • Accessing external knowledge (two heads are better than one);
  • Access to new markets, technology transfer from and / or to other industries;
  • Reduced time to market;
  • Reduced internal R&D costs and risks;
  • Sell or license ‘non-profitable’ IP to create a source of income.

Effective open innovation required flexibility of thinking when looking for business synergies (with researchers, with suppliers, with customers, with competitors) but it also means that you will need the capacity to work with diverse external collaborators in a way that ensures sustainable benefit for your organisation. C-Tech offers one-to-one mentoring for business who wish to build on the knowledge gained, to enable participants to begin to implement the internal processes required to adopt a suitable innovation business model.

Knowledge Transfer:

C-Tech Innovation is an expert in the provision of Knowledge Transfer and has long been a provider of services initially delivered through the UK-wide Faraday Partnerships and more recently both directly to clients and through the UK Government’s Knowledge Transfer Network programme. Under this programme we manage and provide services to facilitate the transfer of knowledge amongst industry, academia and individuals within the science, engineering and technology industries, in subjects such as bio science, resource efficiency and environmental sustainability.
