C-Tech Innovation has successfully applied its in-house expertise on advanced thermal techniques to processing of food products and to treatment of food waste.
Food processing
Our thermal methods have found numerous applications heating foodstuffs such as soups, dairy products, fruit juices, fruit compote products and ready meals including casseroles, sauces, chowders and ragouts. C-Tech have successfully worked with numerous food technology partners and developed bespoke heating solutions to process a range of high quality food products.
The following heating technologies have been applied successfully to food processing by C-Tech:
Food waste
C-Tech Innovation has successfully applied ohmic heating in the processing of food wastes with high solids content. We has successfully demonstrated the use of ohmic heating for the hygienisation of domestic and industrial food wastes. Ohmic can also be applied to the treatment of animal by-product (ABP) materials to ensure compliance with ABP Regulations prior to treatment by either anaerobic digestion or composting.
C-Tech Innovation is involved in researching microbial processes for conversion of biomass into biofuels. In particular we are developing thermal pre-treatment processes and electrochemical downstream processes which enhance the efficiency of these microbial processes. C-Tech’s technologies have already been successfully investigated on processes producing biofuels like hydrogen, methane and butanol from biomass.
