The Innovation, Research and Technology (IRT) sector in the UK is a key driver of economic growth and job creation, with an impact that far outweighs its size. That’s the conclusion of a new report by Oxford Economics—commissioned by the industry association AIRTO—which contains a detailed assessment of the sector and the unique effects it has on the wider economy.
Over the past three years C-Tech Innovation has formed strong links with the Basque Country, and each year a number of science and engineering graduates from universities in the region have come to C-Tech for paid internships, gaining valuable insight into working in industry and contributing to the success of various research projects. Making Europe a destination for world-class researchers has been a key priority during the past six years of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). From 2007 to 2012, 379 FP7 calls for proposals were made and more than 113,000 proposals were received, involving more than 485,000 applicant organisations and individuals, with requested EU funding reaching an impressive €32.8 billion.
