C-Tech has a wealth of experience in the design, development and testing of bespoke single cell and small stack fuel cells, and their integration with balance of plant. We also specialise in fine-grained control systems to allow precise monitoring and maintenance of fuel cell operating conditions.

Many people are now familiar with the concept of fuel cells as a replacement for the internal combustion engine in vehicles in the new Hydrogen Economy. This technology uses Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells. Other types of fuel cell include Direct Methanol Fuel Cells (DMFCs) which are suitable for powering laptops and other small electronic goods (as the fuel comes in an easily replaceable liquid cartridge), and Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) which use a variety of fuels at higher operating temperatures and are finding applications in Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems.

At C-Tech Innovation, we are experienced in many aspects of fuel cell research and development. We have worked on the design and construction of a novel stack arrangement for a fuel cell manufacturer, characterisation of high temperature membranes for PEM FCs, the use of bacteria to grow nanoparticles of precious metal catalysts, and technical due diligence relating to the market potential of microbial fuel cells. We have the expertise in chemical engineering to understand the electrochemistry of a given architecture and assist you with testing and integration.
