Energy StorageDelivering solutions that exceed expectations
The drive towards a distributed national power grid based on small and medium scale power, generated from renewable energy and the increased power and energy densities required for Hybrid (HEV) and Electric Vehicles (EVs) are providing both a major opportunity and significant technological challenges for battery technology.
![]() Renewable energy such as solar and wind relies upon energy sources that vary throughout the day and year. There is a requirement therefore to balance the power produced under the best conditions with times of peak consumer demand, as the two rarely coincide. This ‘load levelling’, whether on a national or micro scale, is best served by the provision of large rechargeable batteries.
Load levelling of power supply networks is just one area of C-Tech’s expertise, as we have over 2 decades of experience in energy and energy storage technologies. We have also performed a great deal of research in the areas of both secondary (rechargeable) and redox flow batteries.
Battery technologies are one of our established core competencies and we have a wide ranging expertise in all-soluble lead, cerium-zinc, vanadium and tribromide-polysulfide and sodium-sulphur systems.
We can design and construct anything from small lab-scale cells to large demonstrator batteries, as well as perform CFD modelling of flow patterns and fundamental lab-based research. |
